Slavery still Exists? Are we Prisoners of our own devices?

Who said slavery was over? We are still slave to companies as employees, and still slave to clients as consultants – the amount of slavery is measured in the time you comitt and the time you commit is measured in the money you earn, more the money more the answerability – every day we drop our egos and convince ourselves that is it okay to be treated in a certain way, to be subject to the office politics, to bend our head in front of management – but can’t these service roles be more of respect and gratitude, why isint giving and earning money without the guilt – why isn’t a bricklayer who works the most hardest the most paid, as without him the crore value house isn’t built? Why isn’t there respect for all professions as without even one role, the corporate would crumble, and the ones at the ground always work more and those at the tops always don’t so much but only tell people what to do – why is that even after eons of development people need to be told what to do, why is there not enough trust in the world? Why is that money has become the controlling factor of people?

Just some questions that bubble up in my mind, seeing the way we all are working, convincing we are doing the right thing - and while I question, I wonder, and I plead, and I seek from the Divine what can be done to change it? Does every person have the capacity to bring a change - there has to be in some reality, some gridwork and answer, to the how of this unrest.

We dream of breaking free,
undoing those shackles,
and what are those but rules,
itself not real,
for we bind ourselves with belief,
that can shatter as non existent,
that is all but a story,
to survive in peace,
we say we are free,
but operate on construct,
we rebel,
we rejoice,
yet go back to the same rut?
are these shackles just an illusion,
or a blanketed faith,
do we truly believe in Divine?
or are we still scared to surrender?
day after day,
we dream of a different,
fanning that flame of ideal,
but day after day,
we brew the same coffee,
for another Mon-dane.
